We believe the most secure way of building a swimming pool in Spain is using gunite methods. A swimming pool built in this way should last a lifetime.
First we construct brick walls and pre-install all the plumbing. A double layer iron framework is put in place around the walls
and across the floor before projecting concrete. Most companies use a dry mix cement that is added to the gunite machine to make
concrete. We have developed our own specific method using river sand to make a customised concrete. A wet mix is then delivered on
site and passed through a gunite machine that vibrates as well as projects.
The use of wet mix ensures that the whole swimming pool basin is
made of the same consistency, making it equally strong throughout. All of the gunite work is done in one day without breaks.
This ensures that the pool basin is one piece of concrete free of seams and that any plumbing work is completely sealed within the
pool basin. Later, tiles and stone surrounds can be added and the plumbing work is completed.

Plastic, polyester and reinforced glass fibre swimming pools come in various shapes and sizes. They don't have any joins ensuring
the pool won't leak and the flat surface is algae resistant. These swimming pools can be a bit cleaner to install than other types
of pool construction. They can be slightly more economical to install although there is not much difference in price. However
special types of stone and gravel must be used underneath the pool basin and any movement in the ground could result in the
swimming pool not being properly supported. Cracking will making the whole pool basin unusable.
Many older houses in Spain have water deposits that have been turned into swimming pools. They are mostly made with block work which
is given a coat of mortar. These types of renovations are normally very deep with painted sides and square corners. They are
likely to leak and can be difficult to keep clean. If you have a pool like this we can organise a visit to advise the best
way of renovating these types of pools, it can sometimes be best to gunite concrete using the existing walls as the structure.
